Give your watch a quick check on a regular basis, wiping down the face and bracelet with a soft cloth, checking the leather on a strap, and making sure that the strap or bracelet is firmly attached to the watch face. Also, while many watches are water resistant, few are truly waterproof, so if you find that moisture or dust has penetrated the case of your watch, bring it into your local Ben Bridge store where we can have one of our watchmakers clean it out for you.

Our best advice on watch maintenance is to never attempt do-it-yourself repairs, no matter how handy you are or how good the instructions are on Youtube. Watches are super complex little machines and only an expert watchmaker should be trusted to get a watch back into working condition. Attempts by an untrained repair person may seriously damage the watch and can even invalidate factory warranties.  In general, having your watch checked regularly by your Personal Jeweler or watchmaker and serviced according to the manufacturer's guidelines should keep it in excellent shape.

All of our watch repair shops are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art tools required by the major watch manufacturers. We use genuine parts and manufacturer-suggested repair techniques and testing methods in all of our repairs. Movements are completely disassembled during the overhaul process to fully check the condition of all parts, and all watches are water tested to the manufacturer’s specifications. We have 35 watchmakers and 3 watch technicians on staff within our corporate office and in 21 of our Ben Bridge store locations. This is more watchmakers than any other jeweler in the country. Our combined team has over 470 years of watchmaking expertise and many of our watchmakers have achieved the highest level of training and certification in the industry.


Our team's standard certifications are Swiss American Watchmakers Training Alliance, Certified Watchmaker of the 21st Century, Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program.

Service Center

To improve your experience and speed our processes, we have watchmakers within our store locations ready to help you. We have an extensive inspection process that is universal to all repairs we take in. Even with the simplest of battery replacements, we will inspect each part of the watch, including the case, crown, bracelet or strap, movement, dial, hands, and water resistance. This rigorous inspection helps us uncover any issues with your timepiece you may not even be aware of.

Giving back to our local communities is in our DNA. We feel it is important to share our passions and create a positive impact on future generations, which is why we are active partners with the Watch Technology Institute at North Seattle College.


Our watchmakers deliver seminars on various subjects within the watch repair spectrum throughout the year. A few members also serve on the Technical Advisory Committee-a group put in place to assess the curriculum and progress of instructors and ensure the continuous improvement of the program. We have also established the Ben Bridge Scholarship Endowment of Horology, which offers financial aid to minority students enrolled in the program. We hope all of these efforts work together to improve the education of horology, inspire the passion for the craft, and ensure we can uphold the same exemplary service for future generations.
